The following events happen annually and usually around the same time of year, for further informations and dates on these please contact the Hokianga Information Centre and they will only be too happy to help:

  • Opononi/Omapere Axemen's Carnival - 1st January
  • Opononi Fishing Competition - early January
  • Mitimiti Horse Races - early January
  • Hokianga Classic Golf Tournament - Jan/Feb
  • Kohukohu Fishing Competition - Jan/Feb
  • Horeke Regata - usually Jan/Feb
  • Hokianga Harbour Swim - Feb/Mar
  • Broadwood AMP Show - Feb/Mar
  • Kohukohu Celtic Festival - April
  • Rawene Christmas Parade - usually last Saturday before Christmas

The following events are organised by the various community groups around the Hokianga area, if you have something you want listed here please contact Louis at hokianga@hotmail.com and we will add it to the list, please supply a contact name and phone number and if you have an email address please supply that as well. MID NORTH GOT TALENT
Express is a performing arts opportunity for young people in the mid-north to express the God given talent he has given. Auditions will be held every Tuesday at the Castle Duo Picture Theater in Kaikohe for a series of weeks, entry of $2and then some of the best of those different categories will be asked to perform on a set Friday night entrants will perform and are judged.
